In most network marketing companies you will observe that there are very few people at the top of the company when compared to the rest. Why is that? It all has to do with the list of contacts one has. This list represents the people you are going to be talking to to acquire business partners and customers for your company. You will be told to list the people you know including your closest friends and families. They will provide you a memory jogger to help remind you of people you talk to infrequently. However, most people out there do not fall in this situation. What then?

Others will try the 3 foot rule and approach anyone within their sight. This once again requires speaking abilities and marketing skills which many are not taught correctly. It also is hit or miss. If you are a going to shoot an arrow wouldn’t you want to aim for the bull’s-eye. Your target market has to be people who are looking for an opportunity like yours. Most network marketing companies fail to teach their representatives marketing techniques to be able to generate a list of qualified people.

There are thousands of people out there looking for an opportunity to own their own home based business. By targeting these people you can grow your list. This is where marketing comes into play.

Offline marketing including classified ads can be used to generate your own personal leads. In order to succeed it is important that you develop good ads which people will read and reply to. This is where the art of copywriting comes into play.

Online marketing can also be very effective. Having a web page that captures leads is important. However, it is more important to have people go to the web page. Driving traffic to your web page can be done through various ways. Some of these ways are free while others cost money like pay-per-click advertising.

To truly succeed in network marketing without ripping your hair out it is important to learn marketing techniques that will help you find people like yourself that want to get ahead. There is a reason only 3 per cent of the population controls most of the money. It’s because they learned how to do something the majority of people are not doing and took action.
