When someone gets a promotion at work, it is time to celebrate. Be it a jump to an entirely new tax bracket or just a new cubicle; take care of the ones you love by honoring their achievement.
The first step in throwing a party for a promotion is selecting a location for the party. Use some creativity booking a room at place special to the guest of honor. If the person who received a promotion is a member of a lodge like Moose, Kiwanis or Knights of Columbus and try to secure the room there. Often, lodges provide discounted rates to members so ask the lodge president for room availability.
Discuss with the guest of honor how they would like to celebrate their promotion at the party. Who would he or she like to invite? Would he or she like to celebrate with co-workers or would they like to include family and friends as well? The guest of honor may be a little hesitant to be the center of attention at the party, so keeping the guest list to a minimum may be preferable. However, if it is a large public promotion then the guest list may be much more detailed for the party. Invite those listed and ask them to make special remarks or share stories of their past at the party. You’ll be surprised by stories you’ve never heard about people you’ve known your entire life.
When throwing a party to celebrate a promotion remember that having many personal reminders of love and affection for the guest of honor will highlight the effects they have had on the lives of others and honor their achievement.
