It’s time to take stock of where you are with your online marketing efforts. Maybe you have yet to make your first $100. Maybe you are ready to go from earning a thousand dollars per month to two thousand. Regardless, the basics are all the same for each and every one of us.
We all play by the same rules. None of the successful marketers are more intelligent than you are and they definitely ARE NOT simply lucky. No matter what level of success you are aiming for, failure on your part to understand and/or put into action any of the following areas may be what is holding you back.
Take an honest look at what you have done so far and what you are doing right now. Many struggling Internet marketers are spending their efforts in the wrong places.
1. First and foremost, you NEED eyeballs (traffic) looking at your offers. One way or the other, you have to get people to see what you have to offer. This is one of the most difficult parts of all; traffic is a huge challenge. As you all know, I am a HUGE fan of getting traffic without having to pay for it! SEO is my very best online friend. You do not have to be an expert at it to be hugely successful in niche areas. Simply apply basic SEO principles when marketing a niche. There is nothing difficult about it. I have plenty of information on my site about SEO and my Back Porch Income product goes into great detail about how I use SEO to drive traffic to my sites.
2. Your choice of niche is important. If it is too broad, it will be too hard to target the exact traffic you need (not to mention the competition for broad keywords in Google). If your niche is too narrow, there will not be enough of a market for your business to grow. Of course you can always start promoting another niche. However, all things being equal, x amount of work into your existing marketing of a larger niche will be more productive than the same amount of time spent starting up a new promotion for a new niche.
Here is what you should understand about this step: Success promoting Internet marketing related products (a very large niche) will be very difficult. On the other hand, promoting doggie rain boots may prove to be too small of a niche; find something in between!
3. Almost every successful niche marketer puts his or her own unique twist on how they make their business successful. Yes, there are a few “anonymous” successful marketers out there. But that is not the norm. I believe in not reinventing the wheel; do what works for most of those who are successful. In almost every case they have found a way to promote products (either their own or affiliate products) by adding some type of extra value. They use their own personalities to determine what this extra twist is. This part scares most beginners. Don’t let it! This is what makes Internet marketing fun! Simply throwing some offer out on a site somewhere without “you” being a real part of it is pretty boring stuff…not to mention almost totally ineffective.
4. This final step is intertwined in the first 3. Every successful online marketer will tell you that “the money is in the list”. If you are not building AND nurturing an ever growing list of targeted leads for your niche, you are leaving piles and piles of money on the table. No, the payoffs are not much at first. Yes, work is required. However, the effort you put into building your list will result in higher payoffs than anything else you do…if the work is tied in with steps 1-3 above.
There you have it. Be honest with yourself and take stock. Then take Relentless Focused Action!
