No one is perfect, nor does anyone expect you to be, but adding unnecessary stress and drama in your life is a sure-fire way to keep you tossing and turning all night long. Rectifying certain elements in your personal life, and getting rid of all those hidden agendas and double lives could be the best approach toward a good night’s sleep.
Are you sneaking off to meet that secret lover in the evening? Do you chat inappropriately online? Been giving your co-worker that come hither stare? More importantly, aren’t you married? The body and mind expend so much energy during the day that anything arbitrary would certainly contribute to a sleepless night. Adultery can bring on so many other issues, but the initial problem would be thinking of lies to feed your significant other. After all of this sneaking around and covering up, when your head finally hits the pillow, how can you possibly rest? Any normal person would be tormented by these actions, and when you have time to really think about what you have done at night, you naturally have trouble falling asleep.
But cheaters are not the only ones who will suffer from insomnia. Your average criminals, as in burglars and other thieves, have some heavy thoughts weighing on them when night falls. Stealing, particularly when it is something of high value, can seem like a fun and exciting thing to do. Taking money that is not yours or joyriding in a stolen car can really bring out your wild side, but the consequences are severe. Before the threat of jail looms over you, your bedtime thoughts might consist of regret and remorse. Feeling guilty about taking advantage of someone, possibly doing harm to them, or simply just swiping what does not belong to you will surely have you restless for many hours during the night.
The conscience is in place for a reason, and for most of us, we follow it. But when we do not listen, and stray off the path, we sometimes lie awake at night, left to our own thoughts about all of our wrongdoing. Life is difficult enough without throwing bigger wrenches into the mix. Things that once seemed like fun times will catch up with you, throwing your whole life off balance. And, if you are not sleeping adequately at night, then consequently your health will start to suffer.
When you do these mischievous deeds, your mind is constantly racing, and it will take that much longer for your nerves to come down in order for you to feel that natural drowsy feeling. How do you expect to truly feel at peace, enough to enter into a deep slumber, when all that is plaguing your mind are dirty little secrets? Even if you are tough as nails, expect to consistently feel nervous and scared about what the future holds for you when you do severely dishonest things in your life. Surely, a restful night full of good dreams will not soon be in your future.
According to Marina Hall of Scent To Sleep, “Scents such as lavender, apple and vanilla can help you relax and induce sleep. It has a sedative effect”. All you do is spray your bed pillows and linens about 15 minutes before bedtime. Lie down, breathe deeply and let yourself drift off into a calm world of peaceful aroma.
