Some kids just don’t seem to get into team sports. For one reason or another, children may shy away from the conventional recreational activities offered today, such as basketball or baseball. While some parents frown at the idea of their children not doing the same activities as they did growing up, neglecting your child’s physical activity due to a disinterest in common sports is a terrible idea. It’s important to ensure that you’re child gets their exercise - exercise is important to the health of both the body and the mind.

Step-parenting is hard work. Becoming a step-father has challenges all it’s own. Since Father’s Day is around the corner, I thought it might be nice to focus just on that role. But let’s have some fun with it. Rather than just another boring article, why not hear some comments from real kids I’ve worked with and let’s pretend it’s a diary entry written from a kid discussing their fears and expectations about their prospective step-father.
Dear diary,
When someone gets a promotion at work, it is time to celebrate. Be it a jump to an entirely new tax bracket or just a new cubicle; take care of the ones you love by honoring their achievement.
The first step in throwing a party for a promotion is selecting a location for the party. Use some creativity booking a room at place special to the guest of honor. If the person who received a promotion is a member of a lodge like Moose, Kiwanis or Knights of Columbus and try to secure the room there. Often, lodges provide discounted rates to members so ask the lodge president for room availability.
Recently some mothers of young children engaged in a discussion about passing judgment. It was unanimous; they would all teach their children that being judgmental of other people is wrong. They would be sure not to model judgmental behavior and they would correct their children if they caught them being judgmental. Sounds good in theory…
but, shouldn’t children be taught and encouraged to be judgmental?
This article is not advocating teaching children to be judgmental of people based on skin color, physical ability, religion, intellectual, or economic differences, of course. It is about teaching children about values and behavior and assessing situations.
