The Philippines is a beautiful destination to visit. It is made up of over 7000 beautiful little islands that are all special and well worth a visit although to see them all you might need a little longer than the average vacation. The capital of the Philippines is Manila and is a bustling, cosmopolitan city that never ever seems to sleep. With influences from America, China as well as Mexico and Spain, Manila really does have the feel of a city that is alive with different cultures. The Mexican and Spanish influences come from a time when the Philippines had colonial rule by the Spanish from 1565 until 1898 when the Americans took over colonial rule. The Americans stayed until 1946 at which point the Filipino’s took over self ruling their territory.
Manila is a great base if you are intending to travel around and see more of the Philippines but it is also a great place to be if you like a lively city that is great for spending money as it is a shopper’s idea of heaven. Manila is situated on the coast over looking Manila Bay. Manila bay offers wonderful views at sunset with volcanic peaks that are covered in lush tropical foliage on either side of the bay. This is a wonderfully romantic place to be with your partner at sunset.
The Philippines is a deeply religious country with many religious festivals taking place throughout the year to celebrate the lives of many different saints. These festivals are usually held in the churches but are then followed by parties and celebrations that spill out in to the local districts. These festivals are very lively and colourful events that are usually a spectacle to behold.
The Philippines has a tropical climate which makes it very hot and sticky but with regular downpours of rain. The humidity is very oppressive but you can soon get used to it. The weather is a little cooler between Noy beautiful places to visit. If vember and February and is generally more pleasant if you are not used to tropical conditions. May is the hottest month of the year where temperatures average in the region of 83 degrees Fahrenheit (28 degrees centigrade). The Filipino rainy season is between June and October when between 300 - 490mm of rain fall per month. If you are planning a trip to the Philippines you would be very wise to pick your month carefully.
The Philippines is a beautiful place to visit with many wide and varied cultures to experience as well as many beautiful places to visit. If you are looking for a vacation that will take you further afield than usual then perhaps the Philippines is the place to go this year.
